Curriculum Vitae

Prof Rubens Belfort Jr has graduated in medicine from Escola Paulista de Medicina (1970), did his residency at Oftalmologia by Escola Paulista de Medicina (1972), master’s in Microbiology Immunology e Parasitology at Escola Paulista de Medicina (1978). He did his Ph.D. in Ophthalmology at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1981), a second Ph.D. at Microbiology e Immunology at Escola Paulista de Medicina (1985) and Postdoctorate by National Eye Institute (1990).

He is the head professor of Ophthalmology at the Federal University São Paulo, professor of Universidade Federal de São Paulo.

Main areas of research for Prof Belfort include cornea, uveitis, retina and cataract surgery. He has published more than 243 scientific papers, 150 review articles and book chapters. He is co-author of 15 ophthalmological books.
